Repair Authority Acquires Pitcock Biomedical

Repair Authority announced today that it has acquired Pitcock Biomedical, a Manchester, Tenn.-based home medical equipment repair provider. This deal expands Repair Authority’s ability to provide repair services of stationary and portable oxygen concentrators, CPAPs, ventilators, homefill devices and other respiratory equipment in the Southeast U.S. and beyond.

“Our acquisition of Pitcock Biomedical is just one more step toward building a national HME repair network, which is critically needed to serve an industry experiencing rapid consolidation,” says Jesse Keirn, CEO of Repair Authority. “HME dealers and manufacturers alike are demanding a repair partner that can keep pace with their own growth trajectories. The addition of Pitcock Biomedical to our team will expand our capacity and capability to serve providers nationwide.”

Founded in 1992 by HME industry veteran Jeff Schmidt, Pitcock Biomedical is one of the oldest HME repair companies in the U.S., providing pickup and delivery for HME providers within Tennessee and surrounding states. Located about an hour south of Nashville, Pitcock Biomedical is highly regarded by HME providers in the Southeast for the quality of its repairs and its customer service.

“Like us, Repair Authority is a company that’s known first and foremost for the reliability of their repairs and a commitment to great customer service, and we are thrilled to become part of the organization,” says Jeff Schmidt, president of Pitcock Biomedical, who will continue to lead the Manchester, Tenn., repair facility. “After 30 years in business, Pitcock has built a team of experienced repair technicians with a foothold in the Southeast U.S. Joining the Repair Authority network will allow us to better serve HME dealers in our region.”

Concurrently, the company is announcing that MSC Biomedical – the Fort Worth, Texas-based HME repair provider with whom Repair Authority merged in January 2022 – will be rebranded as Repair Authority this spring. The combination of Repair Authority, Pitcock Biomedical and MSC Biomedical makes it one of the largest HME repair companies in the country, serving HME providers in all 50 states with pickup and delivery or ship-in service.

In addition, Repair Authority holds more Authorized Warranty Service Center contracts than any other HME repair provider, including contracts with Philips Respironics, ResMed, Invacare, Drive DeVilbiss, O2 Concepts, Rhythm Healthcare, Direct Supply and CAIRE. Being able to access warranty repairs for more OEM models from a single repair company is also critically needed by HME providers with national reach and large fleets of equipment.

“Bringing all three companies under the Repair Authority brand reflects our commitment to sustaining and growing the reputation for repair reliability that we’ve built over our 32 years in business,” says Keirn. “There is nothing more important than reliability when it comes to an HME dealer’s ability to provide safe and uninterrupted care for their patients.”

Pitcock Biomedical’s repair facility will begin operating as Repair Authority immediately, and service to existing HME dealers will be uninterrupted. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
